Effects of Prostaglandins on Adenosine 3’ , SMonophosphate Levels in Fat and Other Tissues*

چکیده
The action of prostaglandins on cyclic AMP levels in rat epididymal fat pads, isolated fat cells, and other tissues was studied. Fat pads incubated with prostaglandin El (PGE1) contained higher levels of cyclic AMP than controls but lipolysis was not stimulated. However, PGEr did not cause increased cyclic AMP levels in isolated fat cells, suggesting that the stimulatory action occurred in another cell type. PGEl at very low concentrations antagonized the action of epinephrine on cyclic AMP levels in both intact fat pads and isolated fat cells. PGEl was considerably more effective as an inhibitor of epinephrine than PGFl,, an d PGFrp was without effect. PGEl lowered cyclic AMP levels in isolated fat cells very rapidly, and was effective against adrenocorticotropic hormone, glucagon, and thyroid-stimulating hormone as well as the catecholamines. Incubation of intact cell preparations of lung, spleen, diaphragm, kidney, and other tissues with 2.8 pM PGEr resulted in increased levels of cyclic AMP.

متن کاملThe Role of Nitric Oxide and Prostaglandins in the Effect of Adenosine on Contractility, Heart Rate and Coronary Blood Flow in Guinea Pig Isolated Heart
It is a well-established fact that adenosine and its receptor subtypes (A 1 and A ) are involved in changes of contractility, heart rate and coronary blood flow (CBF) under different circumstances. This study was conducted to evaluate the role of nitric oxide and prostaglandins in development of these changes. For this purpose, Nitro-L-Arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), and indomethacin as inhibit...
متن کاملPhysiological role of adenosine and its receptors in tissue hypoxia-induced
It is well known that the metabolic factors play an important role in the regulation of angiogenesis. Increased metabolic activity leads to decreased oxygen levels and causes tissue hypoxia. Hypoxia starts different signals to stimulate angiogenesis and promotes oxygen delivery to tissues. It has been suggested that released adenosine from hypoxic tissues plays a vital role in angiogenesis. ...
متن کاملSeasonal Variations of Fat and Fatty Acid Composition in Muscle Tissues of Mediterranean Octopuses
The effects of seasons on lipid and fatty acid profiles of muscle types (mantle and arm) of Mediterranean octopuses (common octopus-Octopus vulgaris and musky octopus-Eledone moschata) were investigated. The results showed that lipid levels ranged from 0.75% to 1.60% in both muscle types of octopuses which were considered as lean. Lipid levels in mantle tissues of both octopus species were hig...
